Do You Have Stiff, Sore, or Tense Muscles?
Have you been experiencing aches and pains, especially headaches from sitting at a desk too long? Have you been feeling stressed due to working long hours sitting in front of a computer or just facing the pressures we all feel in life?
Are you ready to feel calm, relaxed and have more movement, less pain, and feel refreshed? Then maybe a remedial massage could be right for your right now?
Massage Has Been Around for Centuries
Did you know that massage has been a major part of medicine for over 5,000 years? It was practiced by the Chinese 3000 years before the birth of Christ and in many other cultures around the world. It is a wonderful physical therapy that can restore better movement, reduce muscle tension, and support relaxation for the mind and body. Physical therapies can help repair and help speed up the body’s own natural healing processes.
What Type of Things Can Remedial Massage Help?
Easing and stabilising sore muscles and improving problems such as
- Headaches and general muscle tension
- Low back pain and sciatic pain
- Frozen, stiff sore, and tight shoulders and neck
- Sporting injuries or dance injuries
- Any muscle cramps or chronic pain
- Joint aches and pain
- Whiplash
- Spondylitis, and pain from arthritis
What does a remedial massage involve?
Before the massage begins, I will talk to you about what is troubling you and some questions about your general health and lifestyle.
I will then leave the room while you change and lie on the massage table with towels (warm in winter!) to cover you to protect your privacy. I use various massage blended oils and balms as well as ligaments when needed to “iron out” the knots and tension.
I am often asked what type of massage I give. I have studied a wide range of massage techniques, from Swedish Massage, Shiatsu treatments, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, and Techniques to Relaxation Massages and Aromatherapy Treatments. My Remedial Massage is therefore a combination of the many years of study and practice that I combine to work with the sore muscles or joints associated with the problem area.
Who Will Do the Remedial Massage?
Sue has been practicing remedial massage in her lower North Shore Clinic in Neutral Bay since 1992 and has worked with many leading chiropractors and osteopaths in that time, supporting 1000’s of patients to gain mobility, decrease pain and get back to health.
What About My Physio or Chiro?
These physical modalities are that are designed to treat a broad range of acute as well as chronic health conditions. Remedial massage can be a great adjunct to these therapies to help support and even continue their good work.
At Handcrafted Health we like to work with your other healthcare providers, like Physios or Chiropractors to work for the best outcomes for you.
How Many Massages Do I Need?
Remedial massage treatments may be short-term, to fix an acute problem. You may wake up with a stiff neck and find it hard to turn your head. So, a massage for a week or two can help relieve this pain and restore your movement.
However, many conditions can arise from chronic stress and our often-sedentary lifestyles, whereby relief can be gained from a regular massage. Often people will say that the benefits they experience from their regular remedial massage can really help them control their stress and can become a great part of a self-help routine to enhance their health and wellbeing long-term.
